This assignment should be no more than two pages in total. In your own words, describe the main storyline of the Book of Exodus. Think about how you would summarize the story for someone who is unfamiliar with it. Of course, this requires you to think about what the main storyline is. Do not simply narrate a story consisting of random elements from the book. Tell in your own words the core story that Exodus tells, based on your study in Unit 3. Include all of your assigned readings as background.
Next, describe the main structural features of the book, and create a general outline of your own that helps you keep a birds-eye view of the book as a whole and its general flow. You do not need to invent an original outline, but do not merely copy someone elses. Think about how the book is put together and use some of your own words to describe it. Include the outline (in outline form) in your paper.
Third, identify the main theological themes that emerge in Exodus. What are the most important theological ideas presented to the reader as the biblical story continues? For example, at an overview level, what does Exodus reveal about God, humankind, the relationship between God and humankind, sin and evil, judgment, covenant, blessing, redemption, etc.? Do not address all of them, but focus on the ones that you find to be primary in Exodus as you read and study through this Unit, including any that you would add to these. Do more than make a listcomment briefly on what Exodus contributes to our understanding of each and note how it makes that contribution. Use the bible.
