Provide suggestions for understanding the assignment requirements. Based on the writer’s draft 1, have they selected a RELEVANT and CURRENT ISSUE? Provide them with specific suggestions for improving the issue focus. Are the sources the writer used in draft 1 both focused on the same issue? Provide them with specific suggestions for finding additional sources that maybe even better. Do the sources the writer used in draft 1 actually DISAGREE about some specific aspect of the issue? Provide specific suggestions about ways in which they might find sources that disagree. Does the writer seem to summarize each source effectively? Do you get a sense of the main idea of a source and its important points? If not, why not? Does the writer seem to include lots of details that may not be important for a summary? What specific ways could the peer improve the summary sections? Does the writer seem to ANALYZE each source, using the questions for analysis in the assignment sheet & rubric? In what specific ways could the writer improve the analysis sections? Does the writer include their own perspective or opinion in the summary or analysis? If so, be sure to suggest changes to remove personal opinion and personal perspective. From the writer’s SYNTHESIS paragraph, do you get a clear sense of the specific ways the two sources disagree? Do you get a clear sense of connections or agreement between the two sources? From the writer’s SYNTHESIS paragraph, do you understand some of the different perspectives on the issue and how the writer might develop an argument from these different perspectives? In what specific ways might they improve the synthesis?
